Rewatch
Rewatch is a suite of tools that helps teams maximize the value of essential meetings, eliminate unnecessary ones, collaborate asynchronously, and preserve the knowledge captured in video.
For over two years, I've led product design across all platforms—web, our native Mac app, and mobile apps. With a team of about a dozen people, our roles and processes are extremely fluid, which suits me perfectly. On any given day, you might find me fixing bugs, assisting with support, or doing whatever else it takes to help build something great.
Evolving the product
I joined Rewatch just as the company was undergoing a significant shift in direction. We transitioned from being a video management hub to a tool that integrates with your calendar, records meetings, and supports async video collaboration to reduce the need for some meetings.
I led this transformation, redesigning the video page to enhance collaboration and creating workflows that allowed team members to connect their calendars, set up automated recordings, and easily share their content.
Integrating AI
We initially utilized AI for simple features, like automatically generating summaries and action item lists for each video. However, we quickly realized that teams needed more than just summaries. To meet this need, we developed a tool that allows teams to create custom AI prompt templates tailored to their different video categories.
Helping teams replace meetings
One of Rewatch's core value propositions is helping teams reduce the number of meetings, and we built Series to specifically address status check-ins. With Series, team members can easily post video updates on their work and tag specific people they need to follow up with.
The Series viewing experience was designed to feel more like a social feed than a standard video, making it easy to quickly catch up on team activities. This also allows those who missed an in-person stand-up to stay informed on team progress. Series was an instant hit with our customers, with teams even using it to celebrate birthdays, record welcome messages for new hires, and share personal stories.
Desktop screen recorder
Our screen recorder makes it easy to share thoughts and ideas without needing a meeting. We want video creation to be accessible to everyone and feel as natural as writing a message. To achieve this, we focus on keeping the experience simple and fast while providing the tools people need to fully express themselves.
Mobile apps
Our mobile apps are a great companion to the web product, focused on the core tasks of viewing videos, receiving notifications, and collaborating with their team. We've also used it as a testing ground for mobile-oriented ideas like offline viewing and video messaging.
